the violent protests over the antiislam video which the obama administration had claimed for some of the deaths of those four u.s. officials never even took place in benghazi. state department official told reporters during a conference call this. there had been nothing unusual during the day. there was nobody on the street. then at 9:40 they saw the security cameras -- they saw on the security cameras there were armed men invading the compound. joining us this morning from capitol is republican congressman jason chaffetz, chairman of the house oversight committee, recently returned from a fact finding trip to libya ahead of today's hearings. thank you for talking with us. what do you think of this new information coming to us from the state department call? >> it's troubling. i'm glad it's happening. i think it's a result of the fact that we are holding this hearing, that this state department and the white house are slowly coughing up the information that we deserve to have to make sure that it never ever happens again. >> what do you want out of this hearing? do you want to see
